A hydraulic cylinder can play a roll of preventing cavitation. Although reasons for cavitation maybe different, however, cavitation is preventable providing appropriate measure is taken. In terms of this, let’s talk specifically.
1. Select a hydraulic oil strictly complying to oil standard. Pops hardly occur to a hydraulic system during running with qualified oil. Integrative factors should be taken into consideration when making such selection of oil like different temperature of different area, oil level of filling, cleanness of hydraulic system (keep water and impurity away when filling), and regular check of oil quality, level and color (find the source of air and eliminate it immediately once any water bubble, pop, or milk white color exists in oil);
2. Keep hydraulic oil away from overtemperature. To keep a normal temperature of hydraulic oil, a key measure is to reduce impact and design reasonable radiator system in case of excessive temperature. Once the temperature is abnormal, check and find the problem, and solve it timely. Operate the hydraulic lever and distribution valve smoothly rather than suddenly or strongly; avoid frequent acceleration to prevent strike of hydraulic oil against hydraulic parts; meanwhile, take regular maintenance of the cooling system and keep the temperature amid reasonable scale so as to reduce energy released by breaking of pops. In the premise of keeping normal state of coolant, add some anti-corrosive additive to prevent from rusting;
3. Keep normal space between connection of hydraulic parts. Comply to the lower tolerance limit of assembly sizes during production and maintenance, by which cavitation can be reduced well practically. Once cavitation exists already in hydraulic parts, use only metallographical sand paper to remove pits by cavitation and surface carbon, while, remember, a common sand paper is not adoptable for burnishing;
4. Exhausting should be done during maintenance. After maintenance, keep the hydraulic system running for a while to enable the hydraulic oil to recycle; if necessary, disconnect the inlet or return pipe to let out the oil, by which, exhausting can be done for single hydraulic cylinder.
